My husband and I loved this!! I cooked a five lb. angus beefiness roast in the crockpot. I seasoned information technology well with garlic and fresh pepper than cooked/browned all sides in a pan with olive oil. It cooked on low in the crockpot for 6 hrs with NO VEGES. My family unit loves mashed potatoes with roast. I used 1/ii c. of wistershire sauce, i/ii c. Sweet Infant Ray's Original plus 1/two c. water. The meat was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. It turned out delish!! I can't stop picking at the meat and dinner was over 2 hrs agone. Thanks for this easy recipe.
09/20/2009
This is an crawly recipe. I remember those who didn't similar the veggies need to realize they are actually but at that place to add flavor, like when you make craven broth. It'S ALL ABOUT THE MEAT! Notwithstanding I mashed down the veggies earlier serving, added i cup of potato water (from the mashed potatoes I was making, my mom'due south kitchen tip when making gravies) and thickened information technology to make gravy. YUMMMMM
04/23/2009
this was awesome although I substituted A-i marinade for the BarBQ sauce. Only fell apart at the end of the day and sweetness equally could be. Served with mashed poatoes and peas. Yum Yum!
04/16/2009
Couldn't be easier. The use of BBQ sauce is a prissy change from the more commonly used onion or mushroom soups. We're on a low-sodium nutrition, and then I watered down the worcestershire sauce using one/2 water and one/ii sauce.
04/nineteen/2009
So tasty! I loved the worchestire taste the beefiness picked up! This is the first slow cooker roast that my boyfriend has approved of. I minused the veggies as we like mashed potatoes with roast and sprinkled the roast with a footling onion & chili powder. Corking recipe!
07/12/2009
I loved the season of the meat!! All the same I have to concord with some of the other reviews that the veggies did not gustatory modality very well!! I will make it again minus the veggies!!!
11/19/2010
Despite the unappetizing picture accompanying the recipe, this turned out succulent. I had a bottom round and no inkling what to do with it. I was skeptical about such a simple recipe - but I lacked ingredients for other recipes. I just put the beef and some potatoes and red onion, in the crock pot (after browning the beef), added the two sauces and left information technology on low for ten+ hours. Everyone loved it. I peculiarly liked that it had a bit of a kicking! This recipe is a keeper!
05/18/2009
this was terrible. Every matter tasted the same-all b.b.q It would have been o.k. if only the meat had the b.b.q. taste
05/06/2009
This is an excellent recipe. The meat was so juicy and tender. The carrots and celery had a very nice smokey flavor to them, which I had never experienced, but loved! Am definitely going to be making this again.
09/13/2009
This was okay and I had all of the ingredients on hand. I'm not certain that the bbq sauce was necessary. It didn't seem to add to the taste. Overall the meat was flavorful and tender.
07/25/2011
Awesome and unbelievably piece of cake. Its very filling and is super quick to throw together. It was a bit sugariness and a flake spicy, but both probably could be fixed easily with some ingredient tampering.
08/18/2011
This was the offset fourth dimension I'd ever used a crock-pot or made a roast. I had an nearly 4lb. roast and then I added more liquid and also didn't actually have any veg that I thought would become well except onion. I used A! marinade as I didn't take bbq sauce. I permit it cook from v:30 am to about 5:xxx pm. It was tender and juicy. I actually didn't have to cut it or annihilation it just barbarous apart. The warmth and small boot from the A! and w-shire was comforting and brought thoughts of curling up on the couch on a cold night munching the roast. I tin't wait to have some of the very fiddling leftovers on bread with provalone cheese tomorrow. If my brother doesn't do one of his astonishing disappearing food tricks while I sleep tonight. YUMMY, that is all I take left to say.
03/31/2011
This was the showtime beef roast I've always cooked and it was excellent and my hubby loved it! The just ingredient I didn't have on manus was celery but nosotros didn't miss it. I'grand cooking information technology over again next week and I'll add the celery to compare the difference in taste. I can't imagine it tasting any better!
03/04/2011
This is super good. Used a 5lb roast with 1/4 Worcestshire, 3/4 BBQ sauce and i cup water. Slow-cooked for 7.5 hours. Will probably cook for 6-6.5 hours next time. Cheers! Mom loved this.
03/06/2011
This was a very tasty dish and the starting time tedious cooker recipe I ever tried. I did non have all the veggies so I just used onion. After the roast was done I thickened the juices slightly for more of a gravy. The leftovers are in the refrigerator, the meat shredded in the sauce and volition be used for sandwiches, with coleslaw, tomorrow.
03/09/2011
I also took the suggestions and added 1/ii loving cup of water and used the sweet babe ray's bbq sauce. I did non take celery but information technology wasn't missed. The veggies practise not taste good the other reviews are right that it'due south but suppose to add season to the meat. The meat though was great!! I will definitely be making this recipe again!! I cooked it for 3hrs on high and 3 hrs on low and it was perfect!!
07/15/2011
Excellent roast recipe...omitted the barbeque sauce considering my husband likes "real meat" season.
08/sixteen/2011
Excellent beef roast. I have always plant round roast to exist dry and altogether inedible merely with this recipe it was falling apart under the knife. I have made this twice now, trying both 6 hours and eight hours, and believe me, the extra two hours is worth it.
09/28/2010
I liked it. It was delicious. I enjoyed the mix of BBQ sauce and worcestershire sauce. The veggies were perfect. I would add more veggies next tome!!
10/eighteen/2010
WONDERFUL idea - bbq sauce & Worcestershire! I did follow other reviewers suggestion of cooking the veges separately. Mashed tators get smashing with this. The flavors are not overwhelming; y'all can gustation the beef which my hubby likes. I didn't utilize the celery or onions. I put garlic powder & pepper on the beef, then browned both sides in olive oil before I put it in the slow cooker. Smelled great and tasted great. If you desire More than flavor, add more spices/sauces. Sweet Baby Rays original sauce is the Best!
eleven/11/2010
I totally hated it and so did my family. Adjacent fourth dimension I'll simply apply my Grandma's recipe.
03/05/2010
edible merely thats it
04/09/2010
Loved information technology. The bbq sauce gave the roast a new littlle zing taste to it!!
09/14/2010
This was sooo skillful!! I made it in the crockpot & it came out Fabulous!! My husband & girls loved it!!
03/13/2010
This was my first roast that I ever made. Information technology turned out smashing! My bf even said, "wow, this couldn't have turned out ameliorate!" I follwed the communication of previous reviewers...I used A1 marinade instead of the bbq sauce and left out all of the veggies except the onions. The sauce ended upwards beingness delicious to pour over veggies and mashed potatoes on the side. I will definitely make this once more!
xi/08/2011
Delicious. Only change I made was I did not add the carrots or celery since I was out and didn't want to run to the shop. Very piece of cake. Will definitely brand once again.
05/xv/2009
I love making this on a busy day. Throw all the ingredients in the boring cooker in the forenoon and sit down to a squeamish homemade dinner in the evening! It always comes out tender and juicy.(It's also a nice change from a regular roast beef recipe.) It has a really overnice smokey withal mild bbq gustation to it. The sauce was especially expert over rice.
09/28/2012
Used carrots and mushrooms, sub'd A-1 for BBq sauce. serve over rice. thank you!
06/thirteen/2010
This was a hit. I browned roast on BBQ turned out perfect.
12/25/2011
Not a bad taste, simply not every bit tender as some of the recipes I take tried. I omitted the celery, as I detest the taste of information technology, and did not miss information technology at all.
06/ten/2010
Made exactly as written. I concur with some other reviewers that the Worcestershire was too overpowering. I couldn't taste anything else. Likewise bad, a good roast that wound up tasting similar drinking a bottle of Lea & Perin! One star for the tenderness of the meat and veggies
12/xv/2009
very tasty with picayune work....creates its own juice...nice...
10/03/2009
Very tasty! The BBQ and Worcestershire sauce brand a unique, sweet and tangy sauce. A nice twist to the traditional love apple-based roast I usually make. I omitted the celery and used potatoes and it worked very well, as well.
11/19/2009
11/12/09. Served with crescent rolls and mashed potatoes. Skipped the celery. 1 lb carrots. Added 1/two cup water.
09/21/2011
I'thou drooling remembering how proficient this was. I made this for our Sunday dinner with my roommates and they were all the same talking about it days later. I skipped the celery and carrots and had veggies on the side. Definitely bringing this back before long!
10/25/2009
Tasty merely a little due north the dry side when all was said and done. I used a tri tip roast and didn't put any celery or carrots in equally I just didn't have any. Will make this once again, but with a gravy on the side.
10/07/2009
I varied this some merely it was great! I was afraid to "ruin" my roast by not using my traditional recipe but I tried information technology anyway and it was a striking! I used a mixture of iii different BBQ's that I already had open in the refrigerator. The just veggies I put in were onions.
03/28/2010
This dish turned out to be very tasty. I was pressed for time tonight so I cooked the pot roast on high in the slow cooker for three hours, rather that on depression for vi hours. I also used baby carrots instead. Quick and piece of cake.
03/xxx/2010
Very practiced, will definitely make once again. Thanks!
03/02/2015
Succulent! Did not employ carrots or celery. Used onion, fresh garlic, and added a can of Rotel. The meat was really tender and soooo flavorful! Will definitely brand again!
eleven/17/2012
Like shooting fish in a barrel! Many roast recipes for crock pot crave browning first, which to me removes the ease of crock pot cooking...i pot, a pocketknife, a cut board, x minutes - done. Husband and iv year old son loved information technology. Cooked six hours and it was very tender.
07/eighteen/2012
I made this last nighttime and it was DELICIOUS!!! The flavor was astonishing....I used sweet and spicy BBQ sauce...My married man ate half of information technology!
01/ten/2011
Made information technology for dinner this night.....YUM!!! Didn't add the veggies. Added onion flakes in with sauce mixture. So tender.
05/21/2009
Very tender and good flavor
10/thirty/2013
This was very tasty Simply, each crockpot is dissimilar and 5 hours in I noticed my beef was well washed (I hate that). I lowered the crockpot to simmer. Fortunately, I served it smothered in the sauce and it was good. Next time I would cheque on it at 3-4 hours. Don't assume 6-eight hours is ok.
07/22/2012
Easy and smashing. I loved the flavour of the veggies. I cooked some plain veggies and mixed with the slow cooked ones.
05/19/2009
So simple and easy used what I had and it turned out perfect My hubby would have given it a ten!!!!!!
eleven/25/2013
Information technology just goes to show how people have different tastes considering I hated this dish. I followed it to a T and all I could taste was Worcestershire sauce.
08/23/2009
I was really surprised at how well this turned out. Not dry out and very tasty. Left out the veggies and cooked them separately as I didn't think I would like them in with the bbq sauce. Married man really liked this recipe!
08/06/2009
I cooked the round roast just like the recipe said but left out the veggies and steamed them. My husband similar it more then I did. He said information technology almost is similar a wanna be brisket. The adjacent time I make it I will probably do just a couple dashes of the Worcestershire Sauce and more BBQ Sauce. I retrieve that one/ii loving cup of Worcestershire Sauce was just to strong and over powering.
07/12/2009
I had high hope for this recipe. It was definitely piece of cake to brand, but the flavors seemed to clash with each other. My married man thought it might taste meliorate if the BBQ sauce was omitted and a parcel of onion soup mix was used instead. I would maybe try that, but I besides wonder if the variety of BBQ sauce used makes a difference in the finish effect. In my case, I used Sugariness Babe Ray'south Original. The meal was edible, but zilch to write domicile well-nigh.
05/26/2009
Very good! We all loved it!
03/xviii/2015
Lamentable merely I can't get on board with all the bully reviews. I followed the recipe exactly but I found the meat to be very dry and uninspiring. The slow cooker liquid did brand an fantabulous gravy which when combined with mashed potatoes saved the day.
07/05/2009
I really did not enjoy this at all. My hubby did, however. We substituted soy sauce for Worcestershire sauce, but I don't think that was a huge difference. All of the veggies ended up tasting similar the sauce, like they were drenched. The meat was fine, but I think the same level could exist achieved with a different recipe that leaves the veggies tasting nice. I thought the sauce tasted best with the egg noodles I made to go with it, just that is the part my married man didn't like. I doubt we will be trying this again.
06/29/2009
Wow this is crawly and super simple. I made some modifications. I pan seared the meat first, used half a bottle of nighttime beer instead of worcestershire sauce, and omitted the celery. It was the best roast ever. Next time I'll add together even more onions every bit they tasted similar french onion soup onions, yum!
05/28/2009
VERY Easy and super elementary but information technology was delicious. I institute the BBQ sauce and worcestershire sauce were a good combination and neither one overpowered the other. I made it over rice as suggested and made (haha boiled more like information technology!) fresh sweet corn on the cob, and it was a great compliment to the gravy from the bottom of the crock pot poured over rice. The roast was perfectly cooked. I was unsure what shpinky meant by "chopped" carrots and celery but I chopped them down to small bite sized peices about the size of one-half a penny. Enough and then that they would nevertheless flow fairly easily out of the gravy boat.
08/26/2018
I made hot beefiness sandwiches , mashed patatoes. He moaned the entire fourth dimension he ate...lol. For BBQ sauce I used Garlic BBQ sauce. I institute it to have a bit of an subsequently taste, will tweak it next fourth dimension. This was overall a delicious meal.
ten/22/2018
The Virtually tender and delcious roast always. I'yard extremely picky about meat being even slightly dry, I was not disappointed! The unabridged family unit was also impressed ??
05/07/2016
The meat was cooked wonderfully. Unfortunately my xiv year erstwhile son did nor like the taste which I think was the worstichire sauce. My hubby thought it was good.
12/28/2015
This was delicious. I only used Sweet Infant Ray's BBQ sauce and only ane/2 of the worchestershire sauce chosen for. When it was washed, I added some corn starch to the liquid to thicken it a fleck and served information technology, veggies and all, over pasta i night and mashed potatoes another night.
04/09/2017
Very easily put together. The results were not bad. Definitely a keeper.
12/29/2019
It was nice and flavorful.
01/23/2015
Trying it correct now. Information technology's just what I was looking for!
02/12/2017
We fabricated this for my mother in laws altogether luncheon. Information technology was perfect we added red potatoes to it which merely made it even better. The meat simply fell apart!!!
09/twenty/2019
It was proficient but I agree with the other reviewers that said the vegetables didn't gustation good (although my hubby liked them and he usually doesn't like vegetables!) I guess that'southward a matter of gustatory modality. The meat turned out really good and very tender. I used a top round roast.
01/fourteen/2014
I just made this tonight. Starting time time cooking a roast in the crockpot. I substituted the Worcestershire sauce with Demitri'southward Bloody Mary Mix-Extra Horseradish and substituted the BBQ sauce with beef broth. The grocery was actually out of celery then I merely used carrots and onion. Very tasty with a nice zing from the Claret Mary mix. Will make information technology once again.
09/xvi/2019
Everyone loved it even my mom and she is not a large fan of BBQ sauce.
11/xi/2018
Fabricated this - I added diced potatoes with the skin all the same on, some yellow pepper cut into strips and sliced red onion (last two laid on top) The family loved information technology!
11/10/2020
Keen flavour! Easy to make! Instant family favorite! Definitely adding this recipe to our rotation!
12/15/2017
Moist & tender
09/26/2018
Roast + carrots. Added minced garlic instead of powder, celery flakes and dried red onion instead of fresh. eight hrs.... Peachy
11/25/2018
good basic recipe, was enjoyable
12/07/2016
Very good recipe! My family loved it! I did tweak it a fleck... I sprinkled the roast with salt, black pepper & garlic pulverisation and then pan fried the roast on all sides with some olive oil first. I largely chopped 3 whole onions (NO other veggies at all) and placed them in the crock pot, identify the pan fried roast on tiptop of the onions in the crock pot. I then mixed 1/4 cup of Worcestershire & 1/4 cup of soy sauce & i/2 cup of BBQ sauce together in separate basin. I then decided to add a can of beef broth to the mixture and poured it all over the roast in the crock pot. Cooked on depression for vi hours and voila!! Done!! Information technology had soooooo much season! I as well made white rice on the side and the onion sauce was admittedly awesome as a dressing for the rice!!
11/xv/2019
I used frozen chopped onions on the bottom of the slow cooker. A practise I started before I started using liner bags. Ran on high for first hour to thaw. Did not have celery. Followed directions with three pound roast. Very tender! Sweet Baby Ray was the dominant flavor. Garlic and Worcestershire Sauce faded during cooking. Paired well with the all-time backed potatoes recipient and Cabernet.
02/04/2013
Great flavor!! Even my 10-year-erstwhile actually liked it! Put it over egg noodles and information technology was truly delicious. The only thing modify I might brand is to thicken up the sauce before serving. Definitely a keeper!
11/04/2014
This recipe was groovy! I didn't have the vegetables on mitt and the meat had already defrosted. I added the remaining ingredients and hoped for the best. It was delicious - moist, tender and super tasty. Can't expect to try information technology with the veggies!
12/12/2018
This recipe makes a tender roast. I didn't have bbq sauce and so I used merely Worcestershire sauce. I followed the rest of the recipe as written. I used a no salt sauce blend equally a rub and I sprinkled garlic powder and pepper on it. This was to recoup for the lack of table salt. I cut the potatoes into chunks and put them on the lesser and the meat on top. I put the remainder of the vegetables on acme of the roast. I added ane/2 loving cup of water. The potatoes were delicious because they turned out brown and flavored similar the "broasted" potatoes you get with a roast in the oven. The reason for the 4 star rating instead of 5 is the vegetables on top. None of us liked them.
01/25/2015
I beloved carrot. Sometime I put carrots in my cereal. Instead of milk I put ranch dressing. Ranch, Corn Flakes carrots; Best breakfast ever. P.S. I dear you lot
02/04/2020
The slow cooker beefiness roast was excellent. I will be making this again. Cheers for the recipe.
06/04/2020
All I did was cover the beef with onion soup mix... turned out delicious.
02/27/2017
My family dod not care for information technology, too much vinegar similar gustation. It could have been my crockpot, since it burned on the height.
03/26/2017
I have been cooking for at least 40 years, and this was the best pot roast recipe I've always used. I fabricated just a few changes- I added red potatoes and mushrooms to the list of veggies, I added one quarter cup Worcestershire sauce and one quarter cup water, and I thickened the gravy earlier serving with a lilliputian corn starch mixed with the broth. It was delicious. It's the just pot roast recipe I will apply from now on.I would even recommend information technology to company!
05/17/2016
This was good. I threw in some whole garlic cloves and liquid smoke. I would imagine the taste varies with the type of bbq sauce you employ. I used Sweet Infant Ray's because it was what I had in the fridge. I would make this again
01/22/2019
Dry
04/01/2019
The meat was tough and everything had the aforementioned gustatory modality, and it wasn't a skilful gustatory modality.
04/21/2016
I used this recipe just for the method, but added flavour according to my family's gustation. This produced a lovely tender and moist roast beefiness - something I have struggled to do in the past. I'g sure the season profile here would work nicely besides. Just used the leftovers to make beef stroganoff for dinner this night - yum!
04/xix/2020
I cook chicken breasts in my crock pot all the fourth dimension and they come out delicious, very tender and fall apart. So I thought I would endeavor a roast for taco meat. SOMETHING WENT HORRRIBLY Incorrect! It is well done afterwards only 3 hours? Cooked it alone; No BBQ sauce or veges. Help... I have been looking forward to tacos for 3 days now... I am so bummed. Well, later trying it, I guess it came out alright. Some of information technology brutal apart for my tacos the rest of it was a bit hard to swallow on tacos! But all in all I approximate it was okay, I was only expecting it to fall apart easily like my chicken breasts always do. Good tacos though!!!
11/sixteen/2014
I used a bread and butter roast, I used a lot more liguids then it calls for more like iii/4 cup of Worcestershire sauce and 3/four cup of BBQ sauce I used sweet baby rays original I also added about 1/2 cup of h2o. I used celery, califlower, carrots, didn't have an onion so I used dried onions, I as well used garlic salt. I cooked 3 hrs on loftier 3 hrs on depression. It merely barbarous apart information technology was so delish. I usually do the whole box food meals.. Well frankly because they are quick and like shooting fish in a barrel. But this was just every bit easy. I will say I was scared to ruin my roast or that my beau wouldn't like it. But he fifty-fifty used the juices to put on his mashed potatoes. ????
03/22/2014
Took the pic during the prep. Taking a postal service motion picture slipped my mind. Yum
11/28/2018
I did not have whatsoever barbeque sauce then I used a cider vinegar drink for the sauce. My family love it. Served the sauce over mashed potatoes with the beef on the side.
01/23/2017
This was succulent! I added nearly three tablespoons of soy sauce, besides. Makes a delicious juice for mashed potatoes, besides.
10/24/2016
Simple and Tasty. I eliminated the bbq sauce as I think this adds likewise many calories and all y'all would gustation is bbq sauce instead of the meat. I kept in the celery, carrots, mini potatoes and mushrooms and onions. I but added beefiness goop and some garlic buds. Before putting in the slow cooker, I browned the elevation and bottom of roast, and so sprinkled Montreal spice all over it. All liked it! I used the juice to make gravy.
08/fifteen/2016
This was pretty good! Only changes I made were added a petty garlic powder, red peppers and used 2 dissimilar kinds of BBQ sauce and then, I did 1/2 cup of each! I used 1 sweet & spicy and 1 was Cattleman'southward! I went to bed early and when I woke the next morning at that place wasn't much left over of the huge roast I made! And so, that means family unit blessing! Not even enough left over for the side by side repast! Wow!
04/07/2017
This was a big hit. I ordinarily follow recipes to the tee--just I didn't have any worcestershire sauce (gasp!). I subbed it for some "Dale'south Marinade"--I know its not available everywhere, but if you tin get it, its great. Aaaaanyways, it worked out great.
x/26/2016
This turned out wonderfully. I didn't have Worcestershire cause then I used i/2 cup of A-1 Sauce. Also, cook time on low @ vi-viii hours - next time, I'll do vii hours. Only the sauces were dandy, carrots were succulent & the roast to die for!
08/27/2014
Very easy, I added potato chunks the 2d time I cooked it.
08/23/2009
This was my kickoff roast to cook in a slow cooker and information technology was so easy!! I used Jack Daniels for the bbq sauce and it tasted phenomenal!
12/02/2020
I dear it the beef was tender and delicious only thing is I swapped the Worcestershire sauce for Frank'south hot sauce and it was succulent! Had it with mashed potatoes and broccoli and cauliflower
